Shirt Tank Top

how do you make a t-shirt into a tank top?
I have an old shirt that’s way to big and i’d like to make it into a tank-top like shirt… anyone know the best way?
I can sew so i’d like it to be a little more than no sleeves, is it easy to hem the sides and take the slevees off? i dont’ want to screw it up 
You can cut the neck and sleeves, but jersey knit (the material in tee-shirts) stretches out in the wash if you don’t somehow bind the cut edges. Unless you want the redneck-mowing-his-lawn look, you’ll have to either hem the sleeve and neck holes or some how sew (zig-zag stick works well) or use glue or StitchWitch (a iron-on tape that acts like sewing) on the cut edges. Try laying another tank top over the t-shirt while you cut for size.
